The Art of Commitment: Redefining Resilience.
What is failure to a committed woman?
I had to answer that question for myself after sitting for the bar exam not once, not twice, but seven times. Those six consecutive failures felt like punches to the gut. I carried around what I called a "Degree of Shame," burdened by a deep resignation and a sense of frustration I had never felt before. There were days my legs wanted to give out. And when my faith failed me, I
forced myself to remain standing and tried something else for size: commitment.
My answer to that question became very simple: Failure is an opportunity to develop resilience.
On October 21, 2019, I was officially admitted to the practice of law. Passing didn't just give me a license; it gave me my greatest gift, a profound understanding of the art of commitment. It taught me something that no easy success ever could. Today, I bring that exact framework to individuals, organizations, and executive women leaders.
“Most people run from failure. Bijoux Ngwanda packed her bags, moved across state lines, and walked directly into it six times until she won.”
As an ambitious high achiever, everyone expects you to maintain a flawless upward trajectory. No one prepares you for the crushing, public shame of falling short. After failing the Florida bar exam three times, Bijoux followed a vivid, recurring dream and moved back in with her parents in Ohio and took the Kentucky bar—only to fail three more times. She spent years sneaking into law libraries, hiding behind bookstacks, and constantly changing study locations just to avoid the agonizing whispers and pitying looks of peers asking, 'Did you pass this time?'
But underneath the suffocating shame was a quiet, inexplicable knowing that refused to let her quit. On her seventh attempt, Bijoux didn't just pass the bar—she unlocked the true definition of human endurance.
Today, as a practicing attorney and powerhouse keynote speaker, Bijoux delivers her transformative signature presentation, "The Art of Commitment: Redefining Resilience." Blending her legal intellect with a commanding stage presence, she teaches corporate executives, women leaders, and competitive students how to silence the external noise of failure, conquer imposter syndrome, and trust the unwavering inner authority required to achieve the impossible.
